Work Finally Starts On The 18-House Morton Village In Echo Park
Category : Uncategorized
We’ve been hearing about the resurrection of Morton Village, to be built under the city’s small lot subdivision ordinance just west of Elysian Park, for three years now. And after false starts and many promises of imminent construction, Eastsider reports that work is finally underway. The 18-house project will stick a bunch of little houses right next to each other on a single lot near Echo Park Avenue. In the usual small-lot style, the new houses will be three stories, but this project is also a mix of old and new–in addition to 15 new houses, plans are to rehab three bungalows on the site (we’d heard four at the start of the project) to bring the total up to 18. Morton Village is being developed by Miami-based Fifteen Group–which is also behind the massive Wyvernwood redevelopment over in Boyle Heights–in partnership with Van Daele, which is half the team responsible for the Artis small lot project on the Semi Tropic Spiritualists tract just up the road.
